On Saturday and Sunday this past weekend, the Black Water Yacht Racing Association (BYRA) held it’s annual spring regatta, a series of three sailboat races, divided into four different classes, or ‘fleets.’

The course out on the lake had a marker to determine the starting and finish point of the race, and another orange marker at the halfway point where the boats had to circle around to come back.

In fleet one, Skipper Glen Cliborne of the sailboat ‘Bandit’ was the winner of all three races. In the first race, Cliborne finished with a time of 68 minutes and 33 seconds. Cliborne won the second race with a time of 59 minutes and 27 seconds and the third with a time of 138 minutes and one second.

“Saturday was a little bit lighter than Sunday,” Cliborne said. “We had a good time sailing in the lighter breezes, it was a little more challenging with the wind shifts.”
