Nice to find this website. I lived on SML from Spring of 1988 until Summer of 2000. What a wonderful little community it was. Does Bethlehem United Methodist Church still have a pre-school program? When James, Harris Leigh and Kelley attended, the teachers were Sarah Shackleford, Holly Smith and then Carrie Nielson. Those children are about to graduate from high school or are in college now. Time does fly! Was the little diner/gas station at the corner of 122 & 616 called "Eitner's"? That area's changed a little, I know. (That was a joke). Does Franklin County still only have one middle and high school? Miss the people and the beautiful scenery. Ya'll take care. Celia Bailey (Williams) Tuesday, Feb 05, 2008 (01:02:08 pm EST)

Supervisors, planning board consider bridge condo project....
I am for business and progress when it is tastefully done, having said that I find that SML is being overloaded with vulgar looking buildings, be it condos or business buildings, take the new bridge water condo project.... that's overload, several years back one could go to Moosies, eat lunch/dinner and enjoy a beautiful view of the lake, now one looks at an ugly building, I urge the supervisors to keep the beauty of the lake in mind when and if they approve another condo project, prosper with taste Elfie Saturday, Jul 09, 2005 (08:07:27 pm EDT)

Hello from sunny Tampa!
I enjoy going on line weekly and seeing what is happening at SML. I have been a resident of Florida since 1978, but my heart is still in Virginia. I especially like the Meet Your Neighbor section. You have a lovely community and I feel like I have had a good visit after reading the Smith Mountain Eagle. All the best!
