Standing within the frame of the new marina building, Virginia Dare co-owner Garret Meyer said the magic question within the community is ‘when’s it going to be ready.’”
A blaze leveled the main building of the Virginia Dare Marina in February. The construction of its replacement is expected to be completed around November.
Located upon the site of its predecessor, the new space will include a commercial kitchen, offices, storage space, bathroom facilities and the Beacon Pub, an eatery that is set to provide dining options during the colder months.
The new structure’s upper level will include executive offices and meeting space as well as a second-story deck.
“Blind” Bill Thornton manages the marina’s food operations. According to Thornton, the new marina building is “going to be a perfect opportunity for us to transition waterside to above-waterside with one of the best views on the main channel on the entire lake.”
