Located at Bridgewater Plaza off of Booker T. Washington Highway, Smith Mountain Lake Coffee House has been open since May and already, according to owners Sara and Kevin Gray, business has been very successful, even more-so than they anticipated.

“We were fortunate that we opened when it was the start of the business season,” Kevin Gray said. “So we got to learn real quick about the busy season and now we’re learning about the offseason but business is still really good.”

The Grays explained that already, their coffee shop is a go-to place for organizations to come and have meetings. This is something that is really helpful during the slow time of year.

“Right away the chamber and some other groups were excited that we were here,” Sara Gray said. “They said that they’d been wanting to have a good space where they could meet and this is a perfect location. It’s taken off from there.”

The Grays do a lot of work with Eastlake Church, Radford Baptist Church, the “She-Dos,” the Rotary Club and more. Kevin Gray explained that around 30 different groups use their store as a place to come for meetings.

The Grays landed on their location Bridgewater when they drove by and saw the sign on the door. Quickly they were able to get in contact with the owner and do a walk-through.

“As soon as we saw the view, we knew this was the right location,” Kevin Gray said.
