The Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation into a single-vehicle crash that killed a Wirtz man Sunday night.
Paul Errette Rhodes Jr., 77, was driving a 2001 Mercury Marquis that ran off the road in a slight curve to the left and struck an embankment before overturning. Rhodes was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a safety belt, police said.
A female passenger in the vehicle was injured and flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Police said the crash happened around 5 p.m. on Route 834 (Brooks Mill Road) just north of Route 674 in Franklin County.
No further information regarding the crash is available at this time.
