Charities receive proceeds from Joyous Junque

Representatives from more than two dozen organizations came together Tuesday morning at Resurrection Catholic Church to receive a portion of the proceeds from the Joyous Junque event held June 1-2.

The check presentation is exciting, said Gail Urban, who coordinates the event with her husband, Jim.

“It just feels like you’re doing good for the whole world,” she said. “It’s very rewarding to me.”

This year’s Joyous Junque raised more than $100,000. Of that amount, approximately $55,000 in total was given away to the following area charities: Agape Center, Bedford Christian Free Clinic, Bedford Community Christmas Station, Bedford Domestic Violence Services, Centra Bedford Hospice, Bedford Pregnancy Center, Bedford Ride, Carilion Clinic Hospice of Franklin County, Food for Kids, Franklin County Habitat for Humanity, Franklin County Perinatal Education Center, Free Clinic of Franklin County, Good Samaritan Hospice, Helping Hands of Franklin County, Henry Fork Service Center, Huddleston Elementary School, Lake Christian Ministries, Moneta Elementary School, Roanoke Area Ministries, Shepherd’s Table of Bedford, SML Good Neighbors, Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center, Staunton River High School, STEP, Inc., Stepping Stone Mission, St. Vincent de Paul Society.
