A variety of events and activities are planned in the Smith Mountain Lake area for Halloween.  Here’s a listing of events we had as of press time on Monday:

October 26

Haunted Hayride & Halloween Campfire at SML State Park

From 5 - 6 p.m.   Travel a rarely used wooded trail and listen to the story of why so few venture down this forgotten road! Space is limited, so pre-register at the Main Office. This event is free, regular parking fees apply.   If weather is unsuitable - come to the Discovery Center for a Bat Program.   A Halloween Campfire will follow from 6-7 p.m. at the Campfire Amphitheater (across from the campground).  Enjoy Madlibs, fun, spooky stories and a marshmallow roast!  For more information, call  (540) 297-6066.

October 26 & 27

Listening Hill Haunted House

A family event that is held every year in the Penhook area of Franklin County.  All of the proceeds go to a local cancer fund in memory of Raymond David and are used to help families that have had family members stricken with cancer with their medical bills.  For more information, call (540) 493-5134.
