The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday that Curtis Eugene Sparks Jr., 34, confessed to two multiple burglaries near Rocky Mount in Franklin County.
On July 3, deputies and investigators with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office began investigating two burglaries, one on 200 block of Davis Mill Road and one on Menefee Road. Items taken included checks, tools, camera, gun safe and money.
Investigators with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by the Rocky Mount Police Department in reference to a male subject attempting to cash checks belonging to one of the victims at a Rocky Mount bank.
On July 5, Franklin County investigators were contacted by investigators with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. Henry County investigators had a person in custody on charges in Henry County that they believed had information on the burglaries in Franklin County.
Investigators with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office interviewed the suspect, Curtis Sparks Jr., at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Sparks confessed to the two burglaries in Franklin County as well as an additional burglary in Franklin County from Dec. 19, 2018, on the 2000 block of Ruritan Road.
Sparks, of Bassett, Virginia, was charged with three counts of felony burglary and three counts of felony grand larceny.
This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be pending.
