Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy has a new home.
The school officially moved into its new location in the former Sunset Cay commercial building last Thursday.
“Miraculously, God has worked it so that, from a facility standpoint, we have moved ahead light years in just a little bit of time,” said Pastor Troy Keaton of EastLake Community Church. EastLake assumed the leadership of SMLCA in 2015.
“We have all the staff and faculty, administrators, teachers and students under one roof,” Keaton added. “... God just moved us forward so fast, and he expanded our possibilities exponentially.”
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy opened its doors in 2008. As of last month its students and staff met in two locations in two different counties. The lower school, for elementary school students, was located at Halesford Baptist Church in Wirtz. The upper school, for middle school and high school students, was located at an EastLake secondary facility in Moneta. SMLCA’s total enrollment stands at 252 students.
