Two people face drug possession charges after a traffic stop.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, a deputy who was patrolling Virgil H. Goode Highway in the area of Boones Mill observed a pickup truck driving recklessly. The incident occurred just after midnight on Dec. 30.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop, which resulted in the location of Lane E. Arnold, 33, of Spencer, Va., who was wanted out of Henry County on three outstanding warrants.
A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic bag containing a crystalline substance, a plastic bag containing a brownish powder, hypodermic needles, digital scales and numerous glassine baggies.
The crystalline substance later tested positive for methamphetamine and the brownish powder tested positive for heroin.
Arnold was served on the outstanding Henry County warrants as well as charges in Franklin County for possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession of methamphetamine.
Arnold’s passenger, Jennie L. Donley, 31, of Martinsville, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Arnold is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail without bond. Donley is currently being held without bond in the Western Virginia Regional Jail.
