To the Editor:

It is both a privilege and an honor for me to endorse Captain Mike Miller for Bedford County Sheriff. I have known Mike and his family for over 30 years, since serving as his pastor back in the mid 80s. I have found him to be a loving husband and father and a man of sincere faith in God.

While serving as District Superintendent of the Lynchburg District of the United Methodist Church, I appointed Mike as pastor of Calvary UMC in Campbell County. I remember him sharing with me about God’s call upon his life to become a pastor of a local church. He would only be able to serve part time due to his commitment to the Bedford County Sheriff Department and his vocation as a public servant. Mike has served this congregation for more than a decade as a dedicated servant of God.

I have followed his career with the Sheriff Department and as a United Methodist Clergy with great interest. Mike has deep and enduring commitment to the citizens of Bedford County and to community service. Likewise he continues to be a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and a compassionate pastor to his congregation.

Since my retirement last July, I now reside in Bedford County and wholeheartedly support Mike Miller for the office of Sheriff of Bedford County. His has my highest recommendation.
