To the Editor:
I am thrilled to endorse Mike Miller for the office of Bedford County Sheriff.
Most people living in Bedford County know Mike Miller as a conscientious and upstanding part of the Bedford Sheriff's Department. I am certainly one of those who has benefited from his police work as well as his leadership. I would be excited to endorse him for Sheriff of Bedford County on those qualifications alone.
However, I also have worked with him in another capacity which I believe makes Mike Miller even more qualified to be your Sheriff. Mike also serves as pastor of Calvary UMC in Gladys, Virginia. For many years he served that church well. As District Superintendent, I was his supervisor for eight years. I admired not only his work ethic but his compassion for others. The church he serves is a thriving congregation at a time when many small churches are declining. I believe this is mainly due to Mike Miller’s leadership.
There were a few instances during my time as District Superintendent when church employees broke the law. I depended upon Mike as an advisor to make sure our churches did everything properly in handling all investigations and legal matters. Mike was honest and trustworthy, but he was also compassionate and was always willing to go the extra mile to help anyone in need.
I cannot imagine a better qualified candidate and I am elated to have the opportunity to recommend Mike Miller for Sheriff of Bedford County.
