I read the VA Politics, Poindexter Report for January 14-20 in your paper (Jan. 24, 2018) and was sad to see that he is into the mud-slinging name calling that is taking over our government. He says Governor Northam has a “Tidewater accent, one might well believe the address was being given by our former governor in his Central New York accent and tone.” This is not constructive and a bad example of trying to get along with other members of our government.

In the Roanoke Times of February 1, 2018 it was stated that the “bump stock” bad was rejected by the public safety subcommittee of the Senate Finance Committee by a 3-2 vote. How can this be? Killing the ban is killing our public. I keep hearing that it would be a “slippery slope” on gun control —please— our safety is at stake! I believe that we should be able to have guns but not automatic weapons like this. We need to stop the violence.
