Brush fire put out on Redbud Lane in Moneta

A brush fire was put out on the 600 block of Redbud Lane in Moneta. Chief Dempsy Moore of Scruggs Fire and Rescue said the pile of logs was being burnt, and it starting to get out of control. “We had to put it out because it was too close to the woods,” he said. They received the call at 3:53 p.m., and it took an hour and 10 minutes to put out the fire. Company 10 (Scruggs), 11 (SML Fireboats), and 15 (Franklin County Public Safety) were on the scene putting the fire out. According to Responding Fire, Company 9 (Burnt Chimney) was added for with a tanker. Units responding were Engine 15, Attack 10, Tanker 10, Chief 11, Command 11 (Assistant Chief 11), 1184, 1115, Fireboat 11-1 and Fireboat 11-6.
