About Us
Founded in 1985, the Smith Mountain Eagle is a family-owned community newspaper at Smith Mountain Lake, Va., and is published every Wednesday.
The Smith Mountain Eagle, which has over 11,000 readers each week, covers the Smith Mountain Lake community, including the surrounding counties of Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania, and the communities of Moneta, Huddleston, Goodview, Hardy, Wirtz, Burnt Chimney, Penhook and Union Hall.
The newspaper includes news and pictures about local government, crime, courts, public records, engagements, weddings and anniversaries, church services, social activities, community events and activities.
Our sponsors each week feature a variety of advertisers including local supermarkets, retail stores, hospitals and health organizations, and other businesses and professionals.
Our mission is to be a written and visual record of what makes our community special.
