SMLCA boys' soccer

SMLCA boys' soccer team huddles up before the start of the second half.

The Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy boys’ soccer team faced off against the Timberlake Christian School in their first scrimmage of the fall season. Since it was a scrimmage, everybody from seventh grade on up was on the varsity team to get some experience for the Ospreys.

With SMLCA fielding a young squad, growing pains were expected and that was the result of the evening. The Tornadoes came out firing on all cylinders in the first half, getting their first goal from Woo Seong Kang and then following it up with two goals from Core Alley. TCS then added one more goal from Jin Woo Lee to close the first half and take a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Head coach of the Ospreys, Mackell Phillips, said his team being young did play a part in the struggles in the first half.
